Fellowship Baptist Church Members Visit Florida Hospital Tampa to sing “Songs of the Season”
The Thonotosassa church raises money year-round to purchase colorful bears for every inpatient at Florida Hospital Tampa and Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute.
TAMPA, Florida (December 10, 2012) – Florida Hospital Tampa will welcome more than three dozen members of Fellowship Baptist Church for the fifth consecutive year on Thursday, December 13 at 2:15pm.
The Fellowship church choir, which features a mobile keyboard player, gathers in the main lobby of Florida Hospital Tampa, located at 3100 Fletcher Avenue, to spread holiday cheer to hundreds of patients, visitors and employees. The group would not be complete without Santa Claus, Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman! Retired Florida Hospital registered nurse, Joyce Pollicina, leads the carolers and characters through the hospital hallways.
“Our choir members really enjoy this event as we’re able to bring a slice of holiday spirit to patients, families and hard-working physicians and nurses,” says Joyce Pollicina, whose husband Dr. Fred Pollicina is a former chief of staff at the hospital. “Some patients will not be going home for the holidays so it’s important to lift their spirits during this difficult period for them.”
Fellowship Baptist Church purchased more than 360 teddy bears to deliver to patients for Thursday’s Florida Hospital Tampa event. The choir group also spreads holiday cheer to nursing homes in the North Tampa area during the month of December.
