Diabetes & Endocrinology Institute
An estimated 25 million people in America have diabetes. Nearly 80 million more have a condition called pre-diabetes, which is typically a precursor to type 2 diabetes. The Diabetes & Endocrinology Institute (DEI) provides complete medical, educational and support services to people in the Tampa Bay area with this life-threatening disease.
Medical care is provided by board-certified endocrinologists who have decades of experience treating diabetes and endocrine disorders. A strong emphasis on education is the hallmark of our program, focusing on nutrition and wellness.
Our comprehensive diabetes education program, led by our team of certified diabetes educators, teaches patients to manage their diabetes through lifestyle changes as well as the use of medication and devices. Topics covered include diabetes self-management, pregnancy/gestational diabetes, insulin therapies, nutritional counseling, meal planning, exercise consultations and Glucosensor analysis.
The American Diabetes Association recognizes the DEI education service as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. Ours was the first program in The Tampa Bay Region to receive this recommendation.

Dr. Carmelo Saraceno, ENT
Carrollwood-area families have enjoyed a long relationship with renowned ear, nose and throat (ENT) physician Dr. Carmelo Saraceno. Dr. Saraceno is the only ENT at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, and he recently opened a second office in Lutz. In addition, Dr. Saraceno has added audiologist Dr. Julie Coudurier to his practice for patients who may have hearing issues related to their ear, nose and throat conditions.
Dr. Saraceno’s practice at Florida Hospital Carrollwood was boosted last year when he became one of the first ENT specialists in Florida to implement a new sinus surgery system, called the Medtronic Fusion System. It allows Dr. Saraceno to work with more freedom as it doesn’t require antennae pieces like previous sinus surgery navigation systems. That freedom gives him more room to work while performing surgeries and patients have been very pleased with the results.
For more information or to contact Dr. Saraceno’s office at Florida Hospital Carrollwood, call (813) 558-4920.
